Arabesque is a family-owned business founded by Zelda Strauss in Mossel Bay in 2005. Nearly 20 years later, the original Mossel Bay store remains the heart and largest destination of Arabesque, with its extensive collection of furniture, décor, fashion, textiles and gifts.

In 2011, Zelda’s second daughter, Lee Nel, opened Arabesque Stellenbosch before later beginning her own journey with Lira & Fynn in 2019.

In 2014, Zelda’s eldest daughter, Zelmarie Strauss, opened the Cape Town branch and has since continued the Arabesque journey.

Over the years, Arabesque has grown, evolved and taken on many different forms, with new stores opening, exciting ventures beginning and thoughtful business decisions shaping each new chapter. Today, Arabesque continues to move forward with renewed growth, with stores in Mossel Bay, Durbanville and Stellenbosch.

While Mossel Bay remains the home of the larger furniture and lifestyle collection, Durbanville and Stellenbosch offer a more curated selection focused on fashion, textiles ,soft decor and gifting.

Through every season of change, the heart of Arabesque has remained the same — a family passion for beautiful, distinctive pieces and creating happy spaces filled with character, colour and joy. And as our story continues to grow, we are excited for all that is still to come.
