Our Story
Arabesque is a family owned business which was founded by Zelda Strauss as a small shop in Mossel Bay in 2007 . It has expanded ever since to become one of the top destination shops on the Garden Route. In 2011, Lee Nel, Zelda’s second daughter also opened an Arabesque store in Stellenbosch then later in 2019, she launched her own brand, Lira & Fynn.
In April 2014 Zelmarie Strauss, Zelda’s oldest daughter, opened the third Arabesque in the very fashionable Kloof Street, Cape Town, and since moved the store to Regent Road, Sea Point to collaborate with Myth gift store.
The family success continues to grow from strength to strength. Currently Arabesque has 4 stores in the Western Cape with the main store located in Durbanville, Corner of Oxford Street & Wellington Road.

Our Products
Our shops offer a combination of furniture, décor, gifts, fashion and jewellery, with our items being sourced personally from local and international manufactures and suppliers. This enables our range of products to be dynamic, and quick to adjust the current trends for each specific shop and the target customers. We strive to be a destination shop, in order to provide our clients with a unique experience and build a brand that is exclusive.
Unique Items
Stock is sourced four times per year by ourselves to handpick items that we know are exceptional, trending, unique and not available in South Africa, which allows us to keep up with international fashion and design trends.
Quality
Our international furniture and products are sourced from reputable suppliers in the Middle- and Far East. The suppliers have to undergo our strict quality measurements, and have proven themselves to be reliable and offer quality products. Locally we buy from established wholesale suppliers.
Wide Range
We offer something to cater for every price class and taste. Clients spend hours in our shops to explore and enjoy the wide variety of items, and we are proud of the fact that we have established on-going relationships with most of our clients. Arabesque is known for its unique atmosphere.
Trend Setting
Due to our extensive travelling to design, fashion and interior furniture exhibitions, and our strong relationships with our international suppliers, it affords that our collections are always in line with the latest international trends, of the prevailing European and American seasons. This is passed on to the local suppliers and allows us to have trend-setting products in all our shops.
